Vermont Closer to Implementing an all-payer ACO model
The State of Vermont and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation have
reached a draft preliminary agreement to create an all-payor Accountable Care
Organization model in the state. The agreement is now under legal review by the
State and CMS. Under the model, commercial insurers, Medicare and Medicaid would
all pay the same amount for the same services from a specific provider. Now, the
State is working with commercial insurers including Blue Cross Blue Shield, which has
indicated it is open to the idea, to get them on board.
